miniMusic Mobile Software Pack release

MINIMUSIC(TM) INTRODUCES MUSIC BUNDLE FOR PALM OS PLATFORM AT INTERACTIVE MUSIC EXPO
The miniMusic Mobile Software Pack

LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 3rd, 2000 - Today miniMusic(tm) will introduce its new Mobile Software Pack for the Palm OS(r) platform at the Interactive Music Expo (IMX) being held at the LA Convention Center. The new retail package includes a MIDI interface to connect a Palm Powered(tm) handheld computer to any electronic music instrument. With this interface, a Palm(tm) handheld can be used to control keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines, and samplers. A CD-ROM in the miniMusic Mobile Software Pack contains the leading music software, NotePad (a music notation editor), BeatPad (a pattern-based music sequencer) and a variety of useful third-party shareware applications, like Theremini.

With the Mobile Software Pack, miniMusic offers a complete portable music system. NotePad provides portable notation for those who know, or want to learn, how to read and write music. Music can be entered and edited a number of ways: drawn onto a music staff, played on an on-screen piano keyboard, or written in using Palm's Graffiti(r) power writing software. BeatPad uses a simple graphic interface to mold and sculpt musical patterns and build up interesting textures and rhythms. You can even make changes to the music as it plays. Both applications can be used on the Palm handheld by itself, but become even more powerful and useful when the handheld is connected to an electronic musical instrument with the provided MIDI interface.

"We are excited to get these products into retail stores where musicians and composers can find them." said Chad Mealey, president of miniMusic. "The Palm community has been very positive about our products, but there are so many musicians out there that don't even realize a Palm handheld can do this sort of thing."

At the IMX show, miniMusic will also be demonstrating their new educational software BugBand which helps teach how to read music and play music on piano or guitar. Also at the miniMusic booth will be the latest MIDI hardware designed for the Palm OS platform: the SG20 clip-on tone module from Swivel Systems, and the Tsunamidi MIDI instrument from Shinei Sangyo of Singapore.
